Trying to Keep up!

I am trying SO hard to keep this blog up as we wind summer down.  Letters about school orientation and open houses are coming in the mail, "first day of school" is on the calendar that flips over next week...it's just getting too real.  Where did the careful long summer days go?  Our weekends seem so full, yet I want more time!

Moving on is always the best alternative to sitting still...so bring it on!

The Junebugs got 3rd place in their division!  We all celebrated with some cool treats after!  Thanks to the superfans who made the games and encouraged her each week!

Knocked off our summer list was another first for the kids...a demolition derby!  The kids loved it...start to finish, they would go again!

Charli was pretty stoked to win this shirt!  They were shooting shirts out of a big "hot dog" gun.  She tried several times to catch one that went "just over our head" (by 20 feet!)...but no luck.  Then a nice man who sat next to us vowed to get her a shirt...and he did!  BUT, it fell right out of his hands into the grubby little paws of a teenage boy...who later gave it to Charli!  It was a win for everyone!

Ya know...just hanging in a tire.  What you doin'?

We took a quick trip to Omaha on Saturday and hit the Wildlife Safari on the way out of town again this year...which has been a big hit on both occasions we have gone.  Well worth the time and drive while we were there!

On Sunday we made our first fishing trip!  It was hot, hOt, HOT!!  Charli caught a fish....everyone was so excited.  Harper lost his excitement when he didn't get a turn, but next time!

Isn't this what fishing is all about?!

I have come to embrace, and even look forward to this a little bit!  Harper's sturdy independence may be what causes a lot of drama between our four walls, but God bless him...he is his own person!  He is learning and growing more and more each day, and that is what being a 4 year old is all about!  So often we do not pay attention to the little person he is becoming, in the same way we did for Charli at this age, which is a natural thing to do after #1 rolls by.  But when life slows down, just a little bit, and we are able to see what unique and loving children we are raising...things just click differently!

What will you do to make this week unique?

Another week, another list of memories....

Another week down as we get closer to the beginning of a new school year.  Charli starts school the week of August 12th and Harper follows the week of the 19th I believe.  That is less than a month away, which will fly by.  With the late arrival of summer it doesn't feel possible...but I imagine we never feel "ready"!

Charil entered this art project in the open class for the Platte County Fair.  She got 2nd place...which she, naturally, thought wasn't as good as she deserved!

Charli went to sports camp last week, and had a blast.  She enjoyed swimming every day, learning more about archery, volleyball, basketball, and football...as well as some other sports.  They took a day to go to Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, she loved it!

Charli has expressed some major appreciation for her fan club here who has barely missed any games.  Someone from this club has been at each game, they are troopers!  She loves it!

BIG day!  Charli can now blow bubbles...which is one skill every teenager needs to top the annoying & snotty list, so she can be well on her way.  I am not ready for those days, which will be here so soon!

Harper had his 4-year check last week.  Nothing to exciting to report...he is tall like his daddy and that doesn't seem to be slowing down one bit!

This is what I found Charli playing with when I came to visit her at camp on their last day for their program!  GROSS, but kind of cute ;-)

Charli with her camp medal and pictures from the week!

Platte County Fair Time!

This year was extra fun because the kids got to go with some of their cousins!  Courtesy of grandpa Borg they got to travel the maze, and they did a great job!  These kids didn't give up until they found the end!

This trampoline bouncer is the best investment each year at the fair...our kids LOVE it!

These boys had the time of the lives on the bumper cars.  Something about going fast and hitting stuff is right up their alley!

 Lucky grandma!!!

Soccer Saturday...these two are getting anxious for practice to start!

Last weekend we took a day trip to ride 4-wheelers at the river with some friends!  The kids each got to bring a buddy home for a sleepover - which was even better!  The kids had a blast, and I even got to sleep too!!

 friends!

Later Mom, going to work wtih dad.  Yeah...not really dressed the part, buddy!

We are almost to the end of softball this year...one more night of tournaments!  Charli's team will play for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd tonight, out of the 14 teams in her division.  They have had a great season with fun players and great coaches!

Again, Charli's super fans!  These troopers stayed and watched Charli play three back to back games Tuesday night!  They were at the field for over 3 1/2 hours!!  #1 fans!

Our favorite Junebug!

Off to begin another weekend and week of crazy busy days and nights, and filling the bucket with memories!  Next week brings soccer, birthdays, and another new month...don't let time slip away folks!  Enjoy!!

Topping it off!

To round out or weekend we went to the Children's Zoo in Lincoln and Dinosaur Museum near Milford.  The kids were troopers, but I didn't mind the nap they caught on Sunday on our way home from a trip to the farm to see grandpa Borg after shaving his beard!

 Charli * panther * Harper

Harper tends to be the king photo-bomber in our pictures -- I have started to embrace it, because he is not stopping!

some people are just meant to dig!

Charli went in her first haunted house this weekend too!  I think she would go back....but she was not ready to go alone! ;-)

Knee-high by the 4th of July, huh?  I think we got that!
