Color Run 2012 - take two!

these should be the last of the pictures from the Color Run!

and this weekends theme is....

And the theme this weekend is...."forget your camera at home"!  What a pain in the drain!

The kids had fun at the fair, no surprise there, they never want to leave!  We made the Platte Fair twice and the Madison Fair once (not so impressed with either personally!) we took in every ride the kids could have been on.  The list included, roller coaster, carousel, train, crazy houses, slides (slides, slides, and more slides!!), and the fun could have gone on for hours!!  The funniest moment was when the kids were in one of the creepy "fun" houses and while they were in the glass maze Harper ran into the glass walls!  I guess they kept them clean at his viewing level!   Charli did this too, but it was strangely more entertaining when it happened to Harper!

As I mentioned earlier I hate the ferris wheel, mainly because of the height but also because they workers can always sense my fear.  Today, my fear of the worker was reiterated once again.  As we were getting in the cart Harper said "I'll protect you mommy" and the worker said "oh, you're scared...this will be fun".  Ugh.  The first few circles, no prob!  The next few, he would rock the cart as we moved by.  He kept our car on top for the longest time ever (there was only one other cart full, so it was not to load/unload) - jerk!  Then on our way down, he stopped at each empty cart, for no.stupid.reason.  When we FINALLY got to the end Chad and Charli were there laughing from the ground because they could see what the worker was doing.  And, as we were nearing the docking station the worker kept rocking our cart.  No cool Mr. Carny Worker, not cool.  I was happy to be off.

The kids could have done the slides all night long, and thankful Chad takes that one on too!  I am getting more and more scared each year I get older!!

Tonight at bedtime Charli worked really hard to help read her book before bed.  She is every excited to start reading and is picking out the words she knows (love, mom, dad, grandma, red, and a few others!).

One month from today Charli will be in school for the first day!  I have a billion mixed emotions about this, so I will continue to push those down deep!

Happy week ya'll!

Platte Co Fair 2012 - take one ;-)

how high can they go?!  VERY high!!

Charli got a flip on this try!!

the only way my kids get on the ferris wheel (on most occasions) is if grandpa is around!  (I am not a fan!!) -- and part of the reason is because of this dude on the right of the picture! ;-)

I would love to see the speed registered from some of these kids going down the slide! The smaller they are the faster they go, and some even catch air on the hills!  good times to watch and do I am sure!

let's fly solo

4th of July, Fun in the Sun, Working on the Farm, Painting Pointers, and solo time at the zoo....just a little of what we have been up to at our house!  It's fair time, so I am sure we will have lots of fun this week!

waiting with friends for the parade to start!

as each of the kids get older they have days when they are all about each other, and can't get far enough away from each other!  This was a moment that they were happy to be "brother & sister"!

when it is just too hot to use your own slide, what's a girl to do?!...

...use some imagination and cool down!

every little boy should drive their excavator in purple sand!

Charli was asked to create a painting for a Relay For Life fundraiser coming up in a few weeks.  She painted on three separate pieces of paper.  After everything was dry butterfly cutouts were created to attach to a canvas she painted!

 this part was super fun!

her finished project!  Someone who attends the Galla will get to buy this piece of Charli's art!  (wish it was me!)

nothing can be too serious when Charli is int he room!  She hid under the table, and was giving her scary reveal here!

as we walked into the ACS office we saw our picture on the wall!  "I am hope" ;-)

pure delight when Charli found out that she was going to get to swim, spend the night in the hotel, and make a trip to the zoo...just her and mom!  1-on-1 time is priceless!

love the skyfarri at the zoo...nice time to relax and just take it all in!!

Charli thought it was terribly sad that someone lost their flipflop in the rhino pen!  I would also agree as they had to walk halfway across the zoo to the gift shop to buy new flipflops!!

While visiting the penguins she fell in love with this little fella... "blackfoot".  He had his picture taken with everything.

"mom, take a picture.  Do you think a penguin has ever been in the desert before?!"

this bird cracked us up!  He would do whatever Charli would do.  When she put her dead down, birdie put it's head down.  When Charli stood tall, birdie stood tall!  Charli thought this was hilarious!

UP!

DOWN!

"Where are the polar bears mom?  I bet it's too hot in Nebraska for them."!!!

Charli got to ride the reindeer AND dragon, who knew that would be so exciting!

proudly displaying her popcorn for our imax show!

BlackFoot surly needed his own 3D glasses, what rude theater workers for not giving him a pair.

sign of success!

the kids' fire crackers from daycare...POP!

sugar cookies = happiness!

Harper & Charli helped Chad while he dug the basement for my parents remodel on their house.  It was a family affair to say the least!  What a project!

not sharing trampoline time = priceless!

gobs of fun!

This weekend was the Relay For Life of Platte County, such a fun & special weekend for our family!  My brother and his family, who live in Arkansas, even came up!  All but one member of my family was able to make the Relay, and I FORGOT to take a picture of all of us. Annoying!  Either way, it was a great event and one that will probably not be able to pull us all together again anytime soon with my brother being so far away.

Harper took his job of decorating bags for Charli, his Grandma Deb, and Uncle Ivan very seriously.  He used about 10 sheets of stickers on their bags!  He was proud of them!

Charli worked very hard on her bags as well!  She worked very hard on this special bag for Grandma Deb!

She was so proud of her bag!  (she used purple because she knows that is her grandma's favorite color!!)

We also had our last t-ball game this week!!  Just as the kids really start to get into the game the season is over.  They had fun together!

Charli caught a ground ball that she shuffled her feet over to get!  Aunt Rachelle would be proud!

Charli was excited to get another medal to put in her room!

Uncle Ivan * Charli * Grandma Deb
These three have walked the survivor lap with Charli for the last two years, alone.  It is bitter sweet to let her/watch her walk the lap alone, but what a big girl she is to do it!  We are always excited to greet her when she finishes her lap so we can walk with her.  We are proud of her journey!

hand-in-hand these two helped each other around the track!

The second lap is for survivors and their caregivers.  Charli rushed over to give Aunt Rachelle a hug, and then walked holding Uncle Randy's hand. Ahhh, my heart melted!  I so appreciate Randy making the trip!  Kara and the three boys drove up separately the weekend before and Randy changed his flight from overseas to fly directly to NE to make the Relay!  (He came from somewhere way east....like Holland, Switzerland, or Amsterdam...i can't really keep them all straight!!)
the cousins had so much fun!  Oh my gosh...sweaty, exhausted kids were jammed on our campsite!

even Grant helped Charli do a lap!!

Harper took the easy way around the track on Grandpa's shoulders.  Eventually he won't get to see the Relay from this view, but until then...he enjoys it!

Charli was so excited and proud to show off her face panting, courtesy of Grandma Jody!  She thought she was getting away with something pretty special!!

Charli with the new one of the new "Heroes of Hope"!  They had a lot of fun together!!

This bag was a nice surprise to see on the track!

"bags by Harper"!!  Charli helped him make the hearts :-)

The Platte County event was recording a music video and many different groups were used to put it together.  Charli had a blast being the survivor group!  She enjoyed dancing a lot on this night!!

How exactly does a 3 year old stay up past midnight with no desire to hit the sheets?  Sneaking drinks of dad's Coke, that's how!  I think his chest got more to drink than his mouth!

Chad * Charli * Brenda * Harper

Harper just can't seem to get enough of his grandma Deb!  They hung out for quite awhile!

Rachelle * Randy * Vicki * Brenda

This was a great sight to see!  Charli rocked ZUMBA for about 20 minutes, probably more!  She jumped right in there and stood between the instructors.  She loved it!!!  (she said she would like to dance, if she didn't have to dress like a girl to do it!!)

cousins of fun!!

Nice cake  un-decorating Harper!

Charli was pretty proud to have smashed Superman's face in!

Charli & Harper picked out this little tree face for Grandpa on Father's Day...cute lil guy!

Harper's next hit broke open all the candy!!  Whoo-Hoo!

They just can't get enough!!

getting ready for birthday cake fun!!

love!!

Sorry Rachelle, not sure these spider webs would fly!

loving the superhero theme!

This bunch could do some serious crime-fighting!

love!

the smile says it all!!

great days for slip-n-slide play!!

"it's on"!!

HULK-tastic!!  Love this!
